Although the history of North Carolina and Virginia wine and wineries has origins in the earliest settlements, it is only recently that modern viticulture and vinification has transformed the landscape with numerous wineries and world class wines. For those fortunate enough to live in the Charlotte, Triad and Triangle of North Carolina, and Charlottesville and Roanoke areas in Virginia, there is now an incredible opportunity to enjoy a day or weekend excursion touring wineries, a cider mill, a meadery and a brewery, all within minutes of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Floyd, VA. In addition there are opportunities for dining on world class cuisine and resting overnight in some of the most friendly Bed and Breakfast or hotel establishments in the South. On top of this, the views and solitude along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the North Carolina Piedmont are the ever present pathway for your excursion.
